Sports Facilities
• The Osceola County Stadium, located at the 120-acre multi-purpose Osceola Heritage Park complex, is the spring training home to the Houston Astros. The 5,300-seat capacity stadium gives any fan a close-up view of the action. The stadium features a party deck to accommodate private functions of up to 80 guests; seven concession areas; an electronic scoreboard, media boxes, radio booths, public address system, seven camera positions available for television; parking areas for 2,250 vehicles to include handicap, tour buses and RV's; four luxury sky boxes; a 23,539-square-foot Major League Baseball clubhouse with state-of-the-art training facilities; a 30,256-square-foot minor league clubhouse; two new multi-purpose meeting rooms.
The complex includes a primary stadium with a four-field satellite system and two "half" fields; all fields are lighted with dimensions of 330 feet down the line, 390 feet to the power alleys and 410 feet to center field; Bermuda grass; cold-water fountains in every dugout, including practice fields; two covered dugouts per field; underground irrigation system; six modern batting cages; two, ten-pack pitching mounds The stadium has hosted amateur, high school and collegiate championships.
• The Silver Spurs Arena is a state-of-the-art, 8,300-seat facility capable of hosting a number of sporting events. The arena offers comfortable, individual seating, 12 luxury seats; floor capacity up to 3,500 seats; four team locker rooms with offices/showers; electronic scoreboard; two media booths; 33,946 square feet of floor space; retractable seating section accommodates stage to minimize loss of sight line; professional quality sound system; shuttered arena lighting to enhance show production values; and two overhead doors for easy loading at separate ends of arena.
The arena has hosted sporting events from gymnastics championships to amateur martial arts competitions. The arena is also home to the twice-a-year Silver Spurs Rodeo. The arena is located in the 120-acre Osceola Heritage Park.
• The Osceola County Softball Complex has five immaculately groomed and landscaped fields in a cloverleaf, satellite configuration. All fields are lighted with dimensions of 300 feet down the lines, 300 feet to the power alleys and 300 feet to center field. Nestled in the center is a three-story pentagonal clubhouse. The complex offers locker rooms, coaches' room, an umpire's lounge, hydraulic elevator, meeting space, offices, concession area and a glass-enclosed loft for the scorer and media. In addition, the facility features electronic scoreboards, public address systems, bleachers, top quality lighting, paved 1K track and ample parking.
Established in 1996, the complex has been the East Coast training site for Team USA Olympic fast-pitch softball team. The complex has also hosted state, national and world fast-pitch and slow-pitch championships. The complex has 8 batting cages: three slow pitch, two fast pitch, one youth baseball, one AAU baseball, and one pro baseball.
• Austin-Tindall Regional Park offers a beautiful, multi-sports facility on scenic East Lake Tohopekaliga. The facility features nine soccer fields, a clubhouse with a meeting room and locker rooms, separate officials' facilities, and a concession area with covered seating. A modern, self-contained complex, Austin-Tindall Regional Park is designed to meet the needs of both professional and amateur teams with five practice fields and four regulation soccer fields, three of which are lighted. The park offers twenty-four hour security and ample on-site parking. Austin-Tindall is the perfect venue for soccer, lacrosse, archery, flag football and rugby.
• Outdoor enthusiasts are in for a real treat with the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, highlighted by Lake Tohopekaliga. The Kissimmee Chain consists of Lake Toho, East Lake Toho, Lake Cypress, Lake Hatchineha and Lake Kissimmee. The chain of lakes is recognized for its record-breaking largemouth bass and has hosted some of the most prestigious fishing tournaments, including the 2006 CITGO Bassmaster Classic and the 2006 Military Team Bass Tournament. The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes is the perfect location for any amateur or professional fishing tournament.
• The Kissimmee area also boats some of the most scenic and spectacular golf courses. The area’s world-class golf courses are quickly earning Kissimmee a reputation as one of the best places to golf. Many of the area’s courses were designed by legends of the game, including Johnny Miller’s course at Harmony Golf Preserve, Tom Watson, Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer at Reunion Resort and Greg Norman at ChampionsGate Golf Resort. Sports Events/Teams
• The Silver Spurs Rodeo held twice a year in the Osceola Heritage Park’s Silver Spurs Arena showcases some of rodeos most talented athletes. Spectators can experience the excitement of seeing calf roping, bull riding, barrel racing and bareback riding. The rodeo is held every October and February.
• Each spring, major league stars from the 2005 National League Champions Houston Astros and up-and-coming players from their minor league teams make the Osceola County Stadium their home as they prepare for the upcoming baseball season.
