Special Events, Lodging Offers Give Travelers Most Out of Holiday Budget

KISSIMMEE, FL (Winter 2009) – For travelers looking to ring in the holidays in Central Florida, the Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched a online gateway to special discount offers on lodging and information about winter holiday events.
CelebrateinKissimmee.com describes a host of special offers and things to see and do in the Heart of Florida destination through the upcoming holiday season ending Jan. 3, 2010. The site invites travelers to discover some of Central Florida’s most value-added offers on:

Where to stay:
Lodging options in Kissimmee are plenty, with more than 47,000 total accommodations in hotels, resorts, campgrounds, villas, vacation homes and more. Many are helping visitors keep an eye on the cost as they celebrate the season with special offers.
Renting a vacation home in Kissimmee is a great way to bring the family together for the holidays. Among the deals from Award Vacation Homes comes an offer for a 3-bedroom home for $903 per week or a 5-bedroom home for $1015 per week from Dec. 18 to 27. Or pay for 5 nights and get a 6th and 7th night FREE with Florida Spirit Vacation Homes, which also offers a deal to pay for 3 or 4 nights and get a 4th or 5th night free.
Hotels and resorts also are gearing up for the season. Gaylord Palms Resort is a holiday wonderland during the winter months with its “Best of Florida Christmas” celebration. To enjoy the resort’s extensive holiday happenings first hand, book a Best of Florida Christmas Getaway Package from $199, a Just Chillin’ Package from $159, or a Grandparents Play and Stay FREE package from $299. All packages include tickets to “ICE! A Trip to the North Pole.”
In addition, Clarion Water Park & Resort with Mindy-O Waterpark is offering 10 percent off the total bill for lodging and dining through Jan. 10. Mention the code LHOLI when registering at (877) 846-2221. Also, Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club, located only 2 miles from the holiday treasures at Walt Disney World Resort, offers 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom villas from $69 per night.

What to do:
In addition to the holiday treasures at the area’s world famous theme parks – Candlelight Processional at Epcot, Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Christmas at SeaWorld, and Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort – there are many free and inexpensive ways to celebrate the season around Kissimmee.
Best of Florida Christmas at Gaylord Palms is the quintessential Florida holiday experience, featuring a slate of activities to make visitors “merry and bright” from Nov. 14 to Jan. 3. The 4.5 acre atrium is filled with elegant and whimsical décor, a 54-foot Christmas tree, a hidden gnome hunt and, of course, “ICE! A Trip to the North Pole,” a collection of holiday scenes carved from nearly 2 million pounds of ice.
In addition, visitors will want to put the Kissimmee stop of “Kenny Rogers Christmas & Hits Tour 2009” on the itinerary on Nov. 30 at The Theater at Silver Spurs Arena. The concert features traditional and original holiday songs, mixed with the Country legend’s hits. Tickets are $45 and $65.
On Dec. 25, get into the spirit of the season with the Christmas Day Carillon Concerts at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Bok Tower Gardens. Enjoy historic Olmsted woodland gardens and the Singing Tower carillon featuring carols from around the world.
Also, enjoy a special holiday version of Arabian Nights, one of Kissimmee’s favorite dinner attractions, as well as “snow” in the town of Celebration, Christmas parades in the cities of St. Cloud and Kissimmee, a car cruise and toy drive at Old Town, and much more.
If visitors find themselves ringing in the New Year in Central Florida, there is a host of options to see the dawn of 2010 in Kissimmee. They include parties at Old Town, in the town of Celebration, and, of course, at Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando’s CityWalk and SeaWorld.
