Educational
Kissimmee is a popular destination for educational groups and class trips, and Kissimmee has a great deal of experience in welcoming students of all ages. If you’re planning visits for educational groups, the Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau can help you find group accommodations, plan kid-pleasing itineraries and educational activities, get discounts on group events, and coordinate logistics to help your students and chaperones get the most out of their visits.
Before Walt Disney arrived in Central Florida, the Kissimmee area was an agrarian community. Students can experience the history of Old Florida by visiting the Osceola County Historical Society and Pioneer Museum. They’ll learn what is was like to live in an authentic 1898 "Cracker House," shop for provisions in a 1900s general store, and work in a turn-of-the-century blacksmith shop and sugar cane mill. They can also visit one of the area’s working cattle ranches, to experience what farm life was like before they were born.
Of course, students will want to experience the legendary theme parks. One of the most popular choices is Walt Disney World® Resort, where they can visit the fantasy-filled Magic Kingdom ® Park, explore the innovations and world culture of Epcot®, enjoy animal encounters of Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, and experience movie immersion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™.
You can also plan for educational groups to visit SeaWorld® Orlando, where they can take white-knuckled rides on the new Manta, a unique roller coaster known as Central Florida’s "first flying coaster." Additional choices include Universal® Orlando Resort, where group members can “ride the movies,” and Universal's Islands of Adventure®, home to the new high-tech, multi-sensory Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
Take advantage of the beautiful weather by planning a splash-filled excursion at any of central Florida’s famed water parks. Choices include Walt Disney World® Resort’s two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, as well as Wet n’ Wild Orlando, where performers can slip and slide on 30 acres of slides and flumes, including multi-passenger tube rides. For something new, students can whoosh down the steep watery plunges at brand new AquaticaTM SeaWorld’s Waterpark. Tell them not to miss Aquatica’s signature attraction, Dolphin Plunge, where they’ll shoot in an enclosed tube through a tank filled with Commerson’s Dolphins.
Back on dry land, make plans for group members to compete in a fast-paced go-kart race or attempt the first hole-in-one at a creatively themed mini-golf course. Or for a more educational experience, arrange for the group to visit Forever Florida, a 4,700 acre eco-ranch and wildlife conservation area with nine distinct ecosystems. Students can experience the natural, beauty of Old Florida at a working cattle ranch and nature preserve. In addition, they can search for alligators, black bears, white-tail deer and endangered Florida panthers on a guided coach safari, horseback safari and Florida's only zipline safari.
