Kissimmee’s sporting life reputation is enhanced by two national governing bodies headquartered here as well as being the geographic home of the ESPN Wide World of Sports® Complex.
The Bass Anglers Sportsman’s Society, more commonly known as BASS, operates out of offices in Celebration, FL, also part of the Kissimmee destination. The organization is the sanctioning body for the prestigious Bassmaster Classic. Widely regarded as the Super Bowl of pro bass fishing, the Classic was staged in Kissimmee in 2006 as the world’s top anglers fished Lake Toho and the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes.
USSSA is the largest multi-sports organization in the world, conducting more than 37,000 events annually. Many of those events, especially softball and baseball, were held right here in Kissimmee and throughout the Central Florida region.
The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is the former Disney’s Wide World of Sports. The complex is the most recognizable competition facility in the Kissimmee destination. A featured part of Walt Disney World Resort, the ESPN complex is anchored by Champion Stadium, a 9,500 seat baseball stadium built in 1997 that also serves as the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves. Sports are also served up with facilities to accommodate tennis, softball, and track and field competitions.
Away from the fields of play and the competition floors, the Kissimmee area leads the way in offering more entertainment and recreational choices than your playbook can hold. The choices include world-famous theme parks and attractions, and a myriad of other attractions that create memories for individuals and groups alike.
